Blade Runner
the meaning of the film is a question, what is it to be human? Everybody who is going to read this has seen Blade Runner and if you haven't then you should go watch it now, because it is one of the best Ridley Scott movies of all time also one of the most changed over the years in total there have been around 5 different endings because of violence and audience testing. the audience didn't like the idea of Harrison Ford being a replicant but both the director and Harrison believed that he was a replicant so it wouldn't just be a fight between dark and light, good and bad, evil and heroic it would be a struggle of a replicant that thinks it has been a human all its life but only now it has realized that its been killing its own creed all along, making it an emotional struggle between keeping quiet and excepting fate or uprising and going rouge. there is a lot to talk about so bear with me. It was based slightly on the idea of the novel 'I dream of electric sheep' but very loosely, only in the sense of replicants. Any way the entire film's feel is amazing the use of dark and light and the low tech slums down below and the high tech factories and offices in the light and the constant chinese undertone. Said chinese undertone is related to the rampant consumerism and manufacturing that goes on is based on the chinese built products of today because of how now everything is built in china. replicants are an android that look sound like and act like humans except without all of the years of emotional development this leads to the company behind the replicants giving them memories so that instead of hating their human counterparts accepting their fate, making replicants almost completely impossible to spot against another human being. so why are there replicants who disobey. Because they were created before the change and know they were created for work. And they run to the most populated planet Earth. there are special replicants like the snake replicant that wears a see through coat and even before that is wearing sequins showing how she is like a snake that sheds its skin to refresh and hide in another camouflage, also the odd doll collectors house is fairly amazing because it gives one of these replicants the simple idea that in herself as a pleasure item she in fact she should dress as a doll and wait and preform for the ringmaster replicant and the man who takes her in and then near the end 'Preform' for the protagonist. Who as we have learnt is supposed to be a replicant. Who has a unicorn dream that relates to the idea of replicants, impossible and misunderstood yet somewhere in your heart you know it may exist that you are a replicant.if you give something that looks human emotions, memories, the ability to feel pain, fear of their own death and compassion aren't they human? And if not, the tell me... what is it to be human?

the shining/ jack theory
Everyone should have heard of the shining and or watched it. That's why I'm not telling you about the plot or the story. I'm telling you, the reader, about how I interpret this film. I think cabin fever has very little to do with this story. At the start of the film it is said that Jack is a writer and is failing at making anything good. Even though later in the movie it is shown that he has an amazing imagination. My theory is that Jack does in fact have the shining, as we learn it is passed down through generations by the head chef (Dick Halloran) speaking to Danny in the kitchen telling him that he 'shined' with his grandmother. this explains the photo at the end of the Shining when he was born around the mid to late 50s. That is his father who had been to the hotel and had the highest power of mind. That is why Jack told his wife ' its almost like I knew what was round every corner' his father left a 'trace' that Jacks shine picked up and recreated members of the party so that's why everyone was dressed with white gloves and using smoking sticks. Shining that to those who are new is like speaking without words and seeing things that will be and things that where/ these things are also possible to interact with real world objects example: the old imaginary woman strangling Danny. unlocking the store room cupboard. Jack is also stronger than Dick because dick would have sensed jack there but Jack cloaked his shining under his normal self. Jack seems to have the shining to move objects and imagine whole parties. But Jack does not have control over the shining and he doesn't know it. my ultimate theory is that jack has the shining but has no real control over it making it a thing that he sub-consciously hates. Danny has control over the shining and has it so far as it has become its own personality named Tony. Jack hates Danny or Tony sub-consciously, meaning that his super powerful sub-conscious / shining is even more stronger than jacks and Jack went and did what he was told by his interactive spontaneous shine. All work and no play. Makes Jack. A dull boy.

kes
No matter what. Even if you are considered to be nothing, worse even - the scum of the earth, if you really do love something and want it, you do that. without reason and the only two things pushing you is your self, and passion. That is what the film is about. not a boy and a bird, but a story about true passion that not even the direst of cruelty and the worst kind of poverty can destroy. This boy has never had anything as beautiful as this bird. He has never cared and loved something so amazing yet he finds that he loves it and will care for it till the day he dies. And nobody can see it apart from one of his Teachers who sees this boy and can also see how wasted he will be when he grows up. The writer doesn't just empathise with the boy but also his older brother who in fact is the boy will soon become when he's older. How? His older brother works in a mine and all he can do is drink on the weekends. That is what our hero will become an overworked, beaten ruffian and a money drinker. The human embodiment of hatred and laziness who stamps on other peoples dreams because he never got a chance like that. This is what the boy does not know but what he secretly fears. Our protagonist realizes that he has found the one beautiful thing that he will never get again. A true experience and the meaning of true passion.
When watching Kes I had to watch the entire film with subtitles because I couldn't cut through the thick ruffian accents.

Apocalypto
The meaning of the film is that dam stay the f*** away from myans because they are super scary no I'm just joking. The true meaning of the story is that you can't outrun your destiny no matter what. The story is based around the misadventures of tribe of people, but mainly around the protagonist jaguar paw. he is only yet just leaning how to use the protagonist affect! this movie is a great example of how the ancient myans destroyed their own society and world by going waaayy overboard with the sacrifices. yet I digress. This film depicts how myans came into the forests searching for new blood just so that they can kill them and how a great tribe owning a forest are taken for slaves and sacrifices. jaguar paw is saved by hi fate and how that the gods want him to live and thrive because no matter what he is going to live with his wife. who quarter way through the film got trapped but you don't want to know about the plot because you can find that almost anywhere the main reason I watched this film was for the outstanding visuals and audio this film produced; a completely new language, a scene there are thousands and thousands of dead bodies piled up, the sounds of the jungle in the background. this film utterly surprised me with its immense detail to history I thought I would be pointing things out and going WHAT!!! MYANS DIDN'T DO THAT. But instead I said HOLY CRAP how did he know that!!! so I think that everybody should go watch apocalypto!

Whithnail and I
The meaning of the story Whithnail and I is that friendship is based on peoples conditions and thoughts on life and friendship is less of a tie but a race to finish and who gets to their goal first. the difference between personalities of two people doesn't matter so long as the friendship is sealed. childhood friendships are a race to see who grows up first, adult friendship is to see who can do something with their lives, the only true friendships that will last forever are ones you make in school and ones you make in a workplace. How this relates to the film is that Whithnail and Marwood (I) are 2 actors both out of work, and are on drugs just for fun. they are both trying to contact their agents and they are both trying to get work as an actor or writer. but in the meantime they cant (SPOILER WARNING) Marwood finishes first and leaves Whithnail to pay off his debts and find work, leaving only memories and a few souvenirs for Whithnail.
The completely mad and homo sexual Uncle Monty makes good material for the movie to work with and make fun of! I digress, the movie is a hilarious dark comedy film set in the late 60s in Britain. its a
humerus palava following the drug fuelled adventures of the terrible
twosome in the city and the country. it also has some of the most
hilarious lines in movies of all time! here are just a few: We want the finest wines available to humanity! We want them here and we want them now!, I feel like a pig shat in my head, I don't advise a haircut, man. All hairdressers are in the employment of
the government. Hairs are your aerials. They pick up signals from the
cosmos, and transmit them directly into you brain! This is the reason
bald-headed men are uptight. These lines make the movie just That
more hilarious and overall a better movie. I really suggest that you
watch this film, British or not, for it is one of the best movies of
the 70s, 80s and 90s put together. well that's just my opinion you go watch it for yourself and leave a comment and a share ( or don't I don't care...) but i give this cinematographic film a 10/10Wednesday, 15 April 2015
Omega Man
The film is about how no matter what if you try hard enough ,even if you are tipping over into the brink of insanity, you will be able to do it. this shows perfectly into this movie because all this broken man wants to do is have his fellow people back, no matter how he achieves this, the 'mad as a box of frogs' man will do it somehow even if he dies trying. To be perfectly honest I love the original omega man, not will smiths remake: I am Legend... oh you didn't know that it was a remake? and a not very good one at that either. your probably looking this and thinking over the plot of I am Legend. yes a lot of that movie was setting traps and other such things for the monsters. but in The Omega Man the 'monsters' aren't like traditional zombies like in I Am legend, they're like cultists despising the technology that brought about the end of the world. but again unlike I Am Legend, the main character is hassled by these 'monsters' for being the last memorabilia about the past and how he is different to the 'monsters'. This forces them to set traps for him!!! which is just awesome. Some of the most interesting and thought provoking parts of the film is where you can see that the omega man is caught up in a world of his own creation, an escape from the terrible world outside, and then he sees a dead body... The look of disgust on his face, the sudden plummet back into his hopeless situation and the sudden realisation that whoever he was supposedly talking to, is now long gone or never existed in the first place. And there is one amazing scene where Charlton thinks he can here phones ringing all around him and this shows what kind of state of mind he is in at this scene.Friday, 30 January 2015
Rain Man
the film is about a deep tale of 2 two brothers, the simple premise of the movie is: Charlie is a wealthy prick who wants his fathers money and finds his autistic brother, who he has never met, has it all, taking him away from his home illegally Charlie wants all of the money and soon begins to make a relationship with Rayman. in its simplest form it is a road trip film but tat is what makes it great it is a road trip film dressed with many different genres and a lot of themes with a beautiful story to tell utilising Tom Cruises pearly whites and Hoffman's amazing acting. There are multiple themes to this movie: family is more important than greed, in this movie it depicts Tom Cruise as a complete dick who has as much self envy and ego to fill 2 Olympic swimming pools, he soon finds his brother through greed of his dead father's money and slowly throughout the first 3 quarters of the way through he beings to want to keep his brother more than get the money. Sometimes a hinder is actually a help; in the movie Dustin Hoffman is shown to have autism and Charlie (Tom Cruise) thinks he's retarded. But Rayman can count how many toothpicks have fallen on the floor out of a jar of 150, he can count cards in a deck and he can remember random peoples phone numbers from a phone book. Showing that in fact Rayman may not show too much emotion but he is smarter than A lot of people. If you really love family then you'll know what's best for them not just for you; this shows at the very end of the movie (spoiler warning) and is tear jerkingly sad/happy, at the end Charlie takes Rayman to the doctor who looked after Rayman and Charlie loves Rayman and doeskin want to let him go but then he decides it's the right thing to do and lets Rayman go back home to the nursing center.the movie is an exiting deep slightly funny - thing... it has some sad
moments and it has some amazingly happy moments and funny moments, what
I'm trying to get across is that its mass of things that make up one
huge amazing bundle of a movie that slots together perfectly into an
amazing experience to enjoy with a box of tissues and a bag of popcorn, Why? because the movie shows how deep a road trip film can be when put together properly it is a heart warming tale and your sure to enjoy every second of it.Thursday, 29 January 2015
The Italian Job
The movie (if you cant tell) is a comedy / heist movie / car chase and
it benefits greatly from that making a brilliant movie about a team of rapscallions. It is an an amazing heist film ( BTW I'm talking' 1969
here so if you haven't watched the original you may not get this review
...) of is a very British movie with a very British soundtrack and a very British feel. The end of the movie is a literal cliffhanger and made me just go ballistic, like Forest Gump, but even more so because the main character charlie (who is literally like a dad to a bunch of toddlers) says hold on I've got a plan. I hate it because there was supposed to be a sequel but it was never made, it was going to be called the Brazilian job and the start would feature the real ending of The Italian Job. which in this case drives me crazy. the British feel of this movie is that this movie remembers Britannia as an evil superpower, setting up that in the late 60s when England was in decline and the country was in debt and Italy was gaining tons of money from the Chinese in gold. this movie shows british gangsters beating the mafia at their own game in their own backyard showing how strong britan is. also they showed mini-coopers like they would show bulldogs as in we are proud to have something very ugly to show our nationality. all heist movies have the same plot: set up an intricate plan with precise detail, do the job and human error gets in the way. what human error is in this movie is that they do The Italian Job and at the very end of the film the driver nearly throws the bus over the edge of the cliff. Why? because he made a Human Error.
"i only told you to blow the bloody doors off!!!!" is probably one of the most memorable lines In this movie. there are many moments where people say "what the F**K!?!" in confusion as this happens you will notice that the movie has some terrible logic: here are the getaway vehicles ... a bus 3 mini coopers and an Indian coach? oh... 70s Italy, how can a bike destroy a main power box? oh... 70s Italy but as i said Italy in the 70s was weird. my favorite part of the movie is when their driving down the tunnel and that guy grabs a chicken from the window. as seen here. I also love the lines at the funeral: if you fail the job then don't come back to Britain unless your in a coffin. the computer expert is perverted and Benny Hill ( Benny hill would start to like big women because its easier to chase them!) All in all it is a film i think that everyone should experience not because its deep or moving but because its a bundle of British fun

the title of the movie (if you cant tell) translates to the visitors |
the movie is a dark and moving comedy. The premise of the movie is that modern day 1990s is visited by a knight and his assistant. they milked the preise for the most funniest most hilarious parts and they mostly did an amazing job thats why it is a funny comedy film like the movie delicatessen you'll love this if you like shallow plots and dark humor , it is also a good movie and an even better thing to help with learning french One of my favorite parts was at the very beginning where the assistant sees a post truck and calls his master so that they can destroy it calling the devils chariot. making use of a well milked premise. like the car they ruin everything modern around them. including many many random objects like torches that are actually wall lamps, a barbecue in progress and an entire room in their once old castle now a vintage hotel. As depicted in the film the knight and their assistant find there ancestors and the noble knight finds his great great great great great great etc. etc. grand daughter who he thinks is his soon to be wife, this makes very awkward moments making the viewer laugh their heads off. The knight then tries to get back to his own time by finding a ancestor of the wizard who accidentally sent them to the future where they are instantly have no idea how modern technology works again pushing some hilarious moments. these two people don't know what a sink is or what a toilet is !!! the main character at the end (not really spoilers) gets all the modern swear words and starts to use them as is catchphrase... his original catchphrase was all about justice and peace but after the adventure its just a compilation of modern day sayings followed by cusses and at the end probably the most repeated line of all... OKAAAYYY. as you can see the movie isn't very deep, made purely for laughs the people who made this knew that their movie wasn't going to be serious at all so they tried to milk out as many funny moments as possible making this french comedy a must see for french students with a sense of humor
