The fisher king is an amazing film that personally I hold as a great film. The main protagonist Jack was once a huge celebrity in the radio community, but one mistake that has cost peoples lives and sanity has sent him into a spiral of regret that he can only climb by helping the people he had hurt most. And he ends up doing so; Perry is an insane man who fantasises that he is on a mission from god and that little fat men are telling him what to do. The main plot of the film is, as I call it, “getting Perry’s holy grail” but in truth by getting this Holy Grail that belongs to a millionaire jack is in turn getting his “holy grail” by helping some one he has hurt. If were looking at this in a mythological sense we are looking at the Holy Grail. In the story of the Holy Grail king Arthur’s land, the UK, is filled with pestilence and disease. So he goes on search for this artefact that can help him remove all the troubles of the land. That is a metaphor that is used in this film and is used at the end of the film. Perry had lost his wife in a club shooting that has now rendered him insane and homeless, well he douse live in the basement of a flat building but… jack now feels that he has to help him get his dream girl, help him and get his holy grail back. The end of the film is very powerful and jack has to literally break into a mansion because the red knight (along with 2 teenagers that appeared at the start of the film) caught Perry (made him remember the killing of his wife) and sent him into a coma. Jack gets the Holy Grail and brings it to Perry who upon waking says “I met a beautiful girl is it okay to miss her?” ill just leave you with that…

Dellacatessen
the film delicatessen is a post apocalyptic dark humour film and an amazing experience for a short while, underneath the facade that it leaves of comedy and a magnificent colour scheme, there is only a simple story of a butcher getting his comeuppance and a herd of sheep with two black ones.
the entire film is based on the production design... all of it! the colour scheme is highly saturated, the costumes are brilliant and the rooms are designed especially for their character counterparts.
all and all this film is a highly stylised dark comedy which even with its lack of original story (base story) its an amazing film set in its own twisted universe where the Hiroshima bomb hit France instead

The Breakfast Club
The theme of this film is Character study. That means it’s about multiple characters in one location. In this film it’s set in a library in a high school and Put in a room for 8 hours with and a thousand-page essay to complete.
The main meanings of this story is every one who has done something wrong has their problems to take care of and It’s wrong to be separated by factions. Why? These meanings are telling you info about the story don’t judge a book by its cover is one of the themes. This movie starts as a stereotype fest ends as an important meaningful movie to the recent and older movies of this generation and the next because it showed us how to set up a movie normally and end as something in equal proportion but giving meaning but ever more so beautiful like a caterpillar.
The film gives us a glimpse of these 5 teenagers lives at home in the first two minutes of it. Then it slowly builds up on how their home life is until we eventually here how their story unfolded and why they got there and it all roots up to home life. These stereotypes are as listed the jock, the princess, the criminal, the Goth and the nerd. These stereotypes are so widely separated but this is the one thing that makes this movie so special compared to others! In this movie radical things happen like the jock wants to be the princesses’ boyfriend but eventually finds that the Goth is made for him witch for me was a very big revelation and made me a bit weepy. The rest of the movie is not so much as intense as others it is mostly just building on what I’ve written. Except the scene when the criminal shares marijuana with everybody witch shows emotions to us. The story of the nerd is also pretty odd, the Nerd tried to kill himself because he got an F- when all other subjects where A+.
Overall I think this movie could and should try to be watched by everyone in present and future

The Treasure of the Sierra Madre
Take 3 people and ask how they feel about gold. You will probably get either one of these 3 different answers, that are the characters of this movie. At the beginning of the film two men and an old man set out to find gold and have to overcome many hurdles to get their well earned treasure. the first man (Fred Dobbs) is a white beggar in Mexico, he has lost all his gambling bets and is skint, yet he still has pride in himself and like some people he thinks that this gold will make him a billionaire and will spend it all if he makes it out alive. The second less arrogant man(Bob Curtain) ,who has a honest personality and a compelling attitude about people, wishes to use his share of the gold to make others and himself happy. Bob is also shot near the end only to be found by the old man who helped him recover from Fred going slowly gold crazy and shooting him in the chest showing another sign of true gold. Like some gold-diggers. and the third final man who is an old prospector believes like a majority of people that old can change men's souls but is always willing to go and find well earned treasure.
The true meaning of this film is that friendship and happiness is much more precious than anything. At one part of the film a native tribe who are poor and reliant, have a child who nearly drowned and is suffering from shock. and the old man is asked to help but when he does all of the town come and hope for this poor boy hoping that a random old man can save this child. Showing true treasure and riches: kindness.
. Leaving the story tied of any loose ends. The old prospector goes and lives with the village people and Curtins goes to work on a farm back at the town. All of this shows that no one is the main character except the gold itself. This revelation to me showed that sometimes gold can really be the true fools gold. Why? I telepathically hear you think. Because gold has no value, just as the prospector said "nothing is worth anything unless you put work into finding it... I ask you in these last few sentences of work. "what is gold actually worth if its laying round everywhere?" and if wood was hidden beneath layers of rock" Milo Geoghegan - 2014
P.S
I personally think that things can be criticised by a numerical opinion but if your an Oompah Loompa 6/10 got a bit boring around the middle section.

Forrest Gump
![]() |
| Forrest Gump poster |
The story spans across every thing that's been important for America in the past 50 years and sometimes takes a funny look at things like the assassination of John .F. Kennedy, the Vietnam war and blacks becoming normal citizens. Forrest also obsesses over his girlfriend who ultimately "friend zoned him" (which for older viewers is where a girl says " lets just be friends"). This movie was mind blowing for me it had everything a good movie it had archetypes of people lieutenant Dan Taylor is a representation of America in that he is honourable and descant at war but slowly gets corrupted by the war also at the start he is a laid back Lieutenant but at the end he is with a beautiful Chinese woman. also as an army lieutenant, Dan Taylor was going to die honourably in the battle field but forest avoided fate by saving him, shouldn't lieutenant Dan be grateful? well all his ancestors have died in an American battle honourably and he is the only exception. but unlike his archetype he was supposed to die but forest was the rain to blow the feather out of fate. also making him lose both his legs. Forrest became a wold champion ping pong player while in the hospital.
Truly Forrest's life was a box of chocolates allot of things happened to him. The movie is pure genius and is told in flashbacks and does it in a really nice way. The one thing i didn't get about the movie is that no one knows who he is even though he is the official owner of Bubba Gump. And that he ran around America for over 3 years inspiring phrases like "S*** happens" and the "smiley face" t-shirt.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
the story is about morals and how all the main characters are immoral and bad in their own way
At the start I generally thought that the good (Blondy) was bringing in a criminal only to find out that it was a bounty hunter sham. To my surprise the good was actually one of the most hurtful protagonists and was deep in evil. Yet at one point Blondy shows emotions to a dying corporal by handing him a cigarette and a blanket that is his own jacket
at another point Blondy shows flake of good by helping another dying captain by giving him his last dying wish to blow up a bridge that seems to be more important than soldiers lives.
Blondy seems to be a hero but is more of a villain. Tuco is the ugly he relies on other people and is literally putting his neck on the line and expecting Blondy to shoot him down therefore connecting the sham. in this movie their is some of greatest music by Ennio Moriconneand shots of filming will stay in your mind forever.

Billy Liar Directed by John Schlesinger
Billy Liar Directed by John Schlesinger
| genre: social realism |
The story is about a man who lies and is living in a fantasy world and can't except the truth. And the downfall that occurs because of it. He acts like a child with his friends and thinks of himself as an amazing liar but soon his world crumbles around him. Then it built back up with one of his girlfriends and his family. Near the end he decides to go to London just after his beloved Grandma (who didn't really like him) died. As he sat down on the train, he thought long and hard but was sad on the train because his fake country was about to disappear. But didn’t get on the train because his home was actually his fake country.
Fantasies play a big part in this film.
ambrosia clip
All his fantasies revolve around him being a big person I.E. a dictator in control, an army corporal, an amazing novel writer, a scriptwriter and wealthy beyond his wildest dreams. However when he gets the chance to become these things - to live out his fantasies and seek real adventure - he declines because his fantasy world is the only one he can live in and as i said not just him but every ones fantasy world is truly home.

BRAZIL written and directed by Terry Gilliam
. The film is about how people are just slaves to the Bureaucracy and nobody can do anything. It’s all done for them as represented by the toy that drops down and all the machinery through the tubes. In the beginning Sam didn’t want change, didn’t have a mind of his own and could be trained to do things just like a dog. Even his boss used him as his slave even going so far as to make Sam sighing his boss' name for him. But after he wanted change, in fact he needed it and he couldn’t be told what to do. Once the propaganda left his mind he saw how terrible the world actually is. His hallucinations were about authority and how they can turn people into their slaves. How the evil looking things in masks where actually souls taken by industries and companies
. In his dream he had wings and could fly representing freedom as the dreams lengthened they were actually telling the story in a different format. The hero Sam was looking for a girl trapped and held captive by evil forces. in the real world she was stuck as a truck driver by social services. Sam’s small office comparing to his dream showed how little freedom and happiness everyone had and he even had to share a desk with another person who was snidey and smug. It was a dog eat dog world the food had become this ice cream like substance just tasting like it (kind of reminds me of Soylent Green?).
Everyone treated each other terribly. People didn’t care about each other or their children who ran through the streets hurting people and burning anything they can find. Social services were depicted as evil corporate facility that did nothing. But when they did they were smug indecent horrible people. The person fighting social services, Harry Tuttle, was an engineer who fixes Sam Lawry’s air conditioning is also a metaphor and he says the answer about 3 times at separate points. Sam sees these creatures with baby masks on that are supposed to represent souls lost to corporate slaves but near the end Sam sees his best friend wearing a mask exactly like that one the creatures wore meaning that jack had became a slave to the industry and being made to torture his best friend. It’s a sorrowing tale of confusion and reality based in a dystopian future.
